Position Overview
Marquette University, which includes undergraduate, graduate, and professional schools, is a Catholic, Jesuit institution in an urban setting. This is to be done within the stated policies of Marquette University, the Big East Conference and the NCAA.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Coach and prepare players for competition and to motivate and provide guidance and assistance to all members of the team
2. Attend all practice and intercollegiate contests.
3. Recruit and select new student-athletes whose academic abilities and character are compatible with Marquette educational purpose.
4. Recommend the assignment of the amount of grant-in-aid for each student-athlete within the guidelines and limits available, presenting completed information to the Executive Associate Athletics Director-Compliance for final approval.
5. Assess and ensure the eligibility of the student-athletes in accordance with NCAA, BIG EAST Conference and Marquette University rules.
6. Assure the continued oversight of academic admissions and performance of student-athletes through to graduation, incorporating especially the assistance as needed of Admissions and the College Dean's Offices via the Athletics Academic Services office.
7. Prepare a competitive men's lacrosse schedule within established University parameters and in coordination with the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics.
8. Organize travel arrangements for all men's lacrosse contests in coordination with the University and department travel policies and official travel agent.
9. Establish guidelines and policies for training of men's lacrosse student-athletes in coordination with the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach.
10. Work with other lacrosse coaches to establish an annual budget within the parameters established by the University and the Associate Athletics Director-Internal Operations.
11. Assist with the selection, purchase and maintenance of inventory of equipment and uniforms. 12. Promote men's lacrosse and Marquette, working directly with Media Relations, marketing staff and media where appropriate.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Bachelor's degree required.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Previous men's lacrosse collegiate coaching experience at the Division I collegiate level preferred. Strong interpersonal skills desired. Values compatible with and supportive of Marquette's mission as a culturally diverse, Catholic Jesuit University desirable.
