Responsibilities

  • Assist the Radiologist/Surgeon during various specialized and complex invasive angio and interventional procedures performed in the Interventional Radiology Suite
  • Organize surgical scrub and circulation duties for total patient care during and after the procedure
  • Perform specialized radiography and fluoroscopic coverage of interventional and angiographic procedures under the direction of a physician / PA
  • Explain procedures to patients and addresses concerns. Prep the patient for procedure
  • Circulate during the procedure and assists in responsibility for patient comfort. Provides supplies necessary for diagnostic and therapeutic invasive procedures
  • Remove catheters/sheaths and applies direct pressure
  • Provide necessary report information to physicians, nurse, and other staff members
  • Order procedures and charges supplies
  • Perform image acquisition and post processing, provide necessary information concerning procedures and exposure times, place information on PACS in a timely manner
  • Maintain and calibrates equipment. Report equipment malfunctions appropriately
  • Monitor, record, and communicate as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems
  • Assist with transporting patients
  • Orient and mentor new staff members
  • Follow radiation safety techniques in accordance with recommended radiation safety practices

Qualifications

  • Current Texas Medical Board - MRT license
  • Current ARRT (R) License
  • Current Basic Life Support Certification / CPR -issued by American Heart Association
