Responsibilities

The Medical Laboratory Scientist Supervisor (MLS Supervisor) functions as a professional who assumes responsibility and accountability for leading a laboratory department. With direct oversight of staff who perform clinical laboratory testing specific to that laboratory department.


Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science or Physical Science

    OR Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technician with >2 years of experience in a high complexity clinical laboratory.

  • Current knowledge of clinical laboratory techniques and principles

  • ASCP or equivalent required.

  • Certification must be maintained without lapse during employment.

    • If certification does lapse, job will be downgraded to Medical Laboratory Scientist (non-certified) or Medical Laboratory Technician (non-certified) until certification is reinstated.

  • Clinical laboratory experience as a Medical Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Laboratory Technician within a clinical laboratory. Current knowledge of clinical laboratory techniques and principles is required.

  • One (1) year experience with high complexity testing if indicated (required for Blood Bank)

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • Five (5) years' experience in a clinical laboratory

  • Previous experience in a leadership role, billing compliance, performance improvement and regulatory standard
