Position: Intake Worker/Coord

Position Summary:

The Intake Worker/Coord is responsible for screening the calls coming into the Case Management
department. They provide patients and other referral sources information and instruction on the assessment and admission process. They
are responsible for the secretarial, clerical and receptionist functions related to the duties of the Case Management department. This
position is also responsible for providing support to the other team members of the department and their secretaries in collaborative
effort and is responsible for special projects and other assignments as directed.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

Answers the Access Line in the Case Management Department and provides information and instruction to persons
needing assessment. Collects information from patient and other sources and screens calls for appropriateness for
assessment. Communicates appropriate referral options to patient and /or family about services available in the
Panhandle Area.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  1. High school education or GED.
  2. Experience in Behavioral Healthcare field preferred.
  3. Experience in answering a multi-line phone.
  4. Ability to type 25 words per minute.
  5. Experience working with personal computer and various software programs including Microsoft Office and Excel.
  6. Reviews HWC or similar training at least annually.
  7. Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire or within 30 days of start date and maintain certification
  8. throughout employment. This must be obtained prior to providing patient care.

Physical and Sensory Requirements:

  1. Ability to read and write in English
  2. Ability to speak and hear, to allow discussions with employees and peers.
  3. Ability to cope with and remain calm under stressful situations including responding to complaints, interactions with law
    enforcement officers and professionals in the community.
  4. Ability to evaluate and interpret information and make independent decisions.
  5. Must be able to tolerate long periods of sitting.
  6. Must be able to communicate on an appropriate level with patients, families, staff, physicians, support agencies, vendors and
    others.
  7. Must be able to type 25 WPM
