What You'll Do

As a Windows System Administrator, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining solutions in support of a national security mission to maintain the safety, security, and effectiveness of the United States nuclear weapons stockpile. Working as part of the IT organization's IT Operations team, the Windows System Administrator position offers you the ability to install, manage, upgrade, and maintain existing Windows based infrastructure in a large, distributed network environment. In addition, you will work with IT engineering and project management to implement new technologies.

You will also be responsible for configuring user access, maintaining the stability of the system and working with customers or other IT professionals to resolve issues or implement new capability.

* Design, install and configure internal and customer-facing servers.
* Administer and support core Microsoft Windows-based technologies.
* Install and configure Windows-based third-party/COTS applications.
* Monitor and update the Windows OS and installed applications in accordance with Cyber Security requirements.
* Perform monitoring and troubleshooting of Windows systems and servers.
* Provide after-hours support for emergencies and occasional weekend maintenance.
* Develop and maintain current operational procedures, user documentation, and user training materials applicable to the supported systems.
* Work with IT project management organization and the Chief Technology Office to deliver solutions on schedule

The successful candidate will have the following skill set:

• Strong understanding of the current Microsoft Windows Operating Systems (server and desktop OS's)
• Strong understanding of Microsoft patch management systems such as SCCM and WSUS
• Strong understanding of the interactions between applications, operating systems, and third-party software
• Understanding of the current Microsoft Windows Infrastructure components such as DNS and DHCP
• Understanding of Microsoft Active Directory and GPO implementation and management

Preferred Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering/science/information technology discipline with a minimum of four years of relevant experience or a Master's degree in engineering/science/information technology discipline with a minimum of two years of relevant experience.
• In-depth understanding of information technology systems in a highly distributed computing environment.
• General understanding of SQL Server DBMS systems
• General understanding of Networking equipment and technology
• Experience with securing hardware and software components.
• Experience with virtual computing environments, including desktops and servers preferred.
• Experience with backup and recovery of physical and virtual computing environments.
• Experience with Enterprise storage subsystems, including Storage Area Networks (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS) hardware and protocols.
• Strong Scripting skills preferable.
• Experience with deploying applications across a large network.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with customers and technical personnel across departments and organizations.
• Ability to present technical and operational information clearly and effectively through the oral and written word, solve complex technical problems, and be alert to changes that may affect the security and operational environment of systems.
