Position Description

Performs specialized Post Doctoral work in the planning, conducting and/or supervision of original research. Responsible for participating in a research project associated with PhD studies and the interpretation of the results of publication. Work is performed under supervision of graduate faculty members with evaluation based on accomplishment of assigned objectives and overall effectiveness of project. May supervise research and student assistants.

Major/Essential Functions

We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher to join our research team at the Texas Tech University School of Veterinary Medicine to develop antimicrobial resistance (AMR) dashboards for rural and regional veterinary practices. This is a USDA-funded position. This project will produce a publicly available dashboard and webpage that will provide aggregated summaries of antimicrobial resistance and susceptibilities of important bacteria for both livestock and companion animals on a monthly and annual basis. Such AMR dashboards will provide information on antimicrobial susceptibility data that can support decision-making in antimicrobial stewardship.

  • Performs specialized Post Doctoral work in the planning, supervision, data collection, statistical analysis, dashboard development, and supervision of the project.
  • Responsible for writing manuscripts and publications associated with the project.
  • Participate, contribute, and supervise the ongoing and new research projects of current Ph.D. students and research assistants.
  • Contribute to the ongoing and new grant proposals of the research group.
  • Work is performed under the supervision of the principal investigator with evaluation based on the accomplishment of assigned objectives and the overall effectiveness of the project.

Required Qualifications

PhD in area of project specialization. Knowledge of modern research practices, the methods, resources, and standards thereof. Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities. Ability to integrate resources, policies, and information for the determination of procedures, solutions and other outcomes. Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with other employees and the public. Ability to plan and allocate the workload of employees, providing direct training and supervision as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Ph.D. is preferred in either epidemiology, data engineering, computer science, biostatistics, or data science.
  • The preferred candidate should have experience, skills, and background in R shiny, dashboard development, and data visualization using R software or other statistical software with demonstrated productivity/publications.
  • Experience with data analytics, time-series analysis, and forecasting.
  • The ability to organize work effectively, establish, and maintain effective work relationships with other employees and the public is required.
