What You'll Do

As an IT Infrastructure ServiceNow Developer, you will be responsible for designing, coding, and troubleshooting applications within the ServiceNow platform in support of a national security mission to maintain the safety, security, and effectiveness of the United States nuclear weapons stockpile. Working as part of the IT organization's IT Operations team, the IT Operations ServiceNow Developer position offers you the ability to install, manage, upgrade, and maintain existing ServiceNow modules and develop new workflows and applications within the ServiceNow platform.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Configuring user access
  • Maintaining stability of the system
  • Implementation of new capabilities
  • Design, install, and configure internal and customer-facing ServiceNow applications and workflows using JavaScript, Jelly, Web Services, HTML, CSS, and XML
  • Administer and support core ServiceNow functionality including CMDB, KnowledgeBase, and Service Catalog
  • Configure workflows, catalog items, and scripting within the ServiceNow implementation
  • Help implement automations through ServiceNow native processes or third party tools
  • Stay current with ServiceNow trends, updates, and technologies
  • Install and configure third-party ServiceNow integrations
  • Monitor and update the ServiceNow platform in accordance with Cyber Security requirements
  • Perform monitoring and troubleshooting of the ServiceNow environment
  • Develop and maintain current operational procedures, user documentation, and user training materials applicable to the supported systems
  • Work with IT project management organization and the Chief Technology Office to deliver solutions on schedule

Minimum Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering/science/information technology discipline with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
  • Or a Master's degree in engineering/science/information technology discipline
  • Ten or more years of relevant education, training, and/or progressive experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years-of-experience requirements for this posting. For postings on the Engineering, Science, and IT Ladder, in lieu of a technical bachelor's degree, the Operations Professional Ladder may be considered.

The successful candidate will have the following skill set:

  • Strong understanding of the ServiceNow platform
  • Strong understanding of the interactions between the ServiceNow platform, custom developed applications, and third-party integrations
  • Strong understanding of the ServiceNow "Now Platform" for application development
  • Strong understanding of procedures for upgrading the ServiceNow platform from one release to the next
  • Experience with ServiceNow modules such as Incident Management, Change Management, Problem management, and Performance Analytics
Preferred Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering/science/information technology discipline with a minimum of four years of relevant experience
  • Or a Master's degree in engineering/science/information technology discipline with a minimum of two years of relevant experience
  • In-depth understanding of information technology systems in a highly distributed computing environment
  • Extensive knowledge of JavaScript
  • Strong knowledge of ITIL processes
  • Familiar with UI, SQL, HTML, and CSS
  • Strong Scripting skills preferable
  • Experience with deploying applications across a large network
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with customers and technical personnel across departments and organizations
  • Ability to present technical and operational information clearly and effectively through the oral and written word, solve complex technical problems, and be alert to changes that may affect the security and operational environment of systems
  • ServiceNow certification is a plus

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.

Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, pursuant to 10CFR 709. Medical requirements may apply.
