What You'll Do

As a project engineer/architect, the candidate will be responsible for managing complex, multi-discipline engineering/architecture services (both internal and subcontracted) and component or bulk material procurements in support of projects. May be assigned to support a specific plant organization for all of its engineering needs, including projects and minor non-project modifications and studies, and/or matrixed to a single or multiple project manager(s) for the engineering/architecture effort associated with capital or expense-funded activities. Ensures the Engineering organization's performance of the established scope of work and directs development, maintenance, and execution of a project/task technical work scope within budget and schedule. Approves all design deliverables and ensures that all technical input requirements are considered and incorporated and that reviews for constructability, acceptability, operability, maintainability, safety, etc., are performed.

Minimum Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering/architecture/science/information technology discipline with a minimum of two years relevant experience along with a 3.0/4.0 cumulative GPA
  • OR a Master's degree in engineering/architecture/science/information technology discipline with a minimum 3.3/4.0 cumulative GPA
    • There is a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) requirement up to 4 years post-graduation at time of offer and confirmed by transcript. Beyond four years from graduation, engineering experience will supersede GPA as a requirement for hire.
  • In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2 (i.e., Baccalaureate in engineering or related science, 2 years job-related and at least 1 year nuclear experience, or a DOE O 426.2 alternative). DOE 426.2 experience requirements can be satisfied following employment. In the interim, newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities. Preferred Job Requirements

Bachelor of Science in (e.g. Electrical, Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Fire Protection, Chemical, Architectural, etc.) Engineering from an Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited program in the United States or designated equivalents from Canada or Mexico, the Washington Accord, or the list of substantially equivalent as documented by ABET. A Professional Engineering License (PE) is preferred, but not required. Or, Bachelor of Science in Architecture from a National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) accredited program in the United States. A Professional Architecture License is preferred, but not required. [A minimum cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.0/4.0 within the STEM major for Bachelor degree only at time of offer and confirmed by transcript.]

  • Extensive technical expertise and full knowledge of related engineering/architecture systems, engineering calculations, applications of engineering, architecture, and construction methods and materials
  • Knowledge of industry regulatory standards and design criteria pertinent to various engineering and architecture disciplines
  • Ability to apply technical skills of engineering and architecture to the design of facilities and/or appurtenances to facilities
  • Ability to coordinate engineering/architecture teams and collaborate with stakeholders to outline project requirements and develop scopes of work, project schedules, and budgets
  • Ability to prepare, read, and/or interpret complex engineering/architecture drawings
  • Ability to conduct formal presentations to plant personnel and other interested parties
  • Ability to review projects for technical accuracy
  • Ability to present information clearly and effectively through the oral and written word

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.

Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, pursuant to 10CFR 709. Medical requirements may apply.
